Recently NAWLA's year-round app, developed by CoreApps, was highlighted in their monthly newsletter

Here are 5 things to know about the year-round Access 365 app

What does the app do?
The app organizes NAWLA's event marketing pages, event specific apps, member directory, association history, blog posts, and online communities all in once place!

What prompted the project?

NAWLA wanted to increase their new media exposure and provide a year round member benefit.

What were some of the challenges or wins for the project?

SmithBucklin worked with CoreApps to improve the Access 365 explore page to include prettier graphics at no additional cost to the client.

What are some of the lessons learned?
Instead of paying CoreApps to create custom pages, we were able to reference NAWLA's responsive Socious web pages within the app. This was a great solution to keeping costs down while providing NAWLA's excellent content.

Who was included in the project so I can learn more?
Hayley Feichter from MCS, Patrick Goar from ITS, and Marc Saracco from BTBU.

When NAWLA is not promoting their event specific apps, they are promoting the year-round app by forcing users to the Access 365 view. This is a great way to make sure users are not opening a prior event app. CoreApps can simply make this change at no additional cost.

Meredith asked "how long did this process take from conception to launch?"

Good question. We broke the project out into 3 phases, planning, execution, and testing. The planning process started in December. The execution phase lasted a few months.

Like I mentioned above, Hayley and marketing worked hard with CoreApps to enhance the overall look and feel of the app. Now that CoreApps have the features in place, I would expect the execution phase to be shorter. During this phase, marketing should be expected to design/deliver the app UI (links, graphics, etc.)

CoreApps does a wonderful job of performing Quality Assurance (Q&A) on their side before releasing to the client. Therefore, the testing phase was only about a week.

We launched the app prior to NAWLA's largest event of the year, Traders Market!

Overall, I would say this project could be completed quickly, 3-4 weeks. But a more realistic timeline would be 4-8 weeks.

This is great, Patrick! Thank you for sharing! Question for you, about how long did this process take from conception to launch?
